Anti-Bullying Day








Anti-Bullying Day is commemorated on different dates. In Canada it’s commemorated on the last Wednesday in February  and it’s also called Pink Shirt Day. In Australia it is commemorated on March 15 and it's called National Day Against Bullying and Violence. In the USA it is commemorated on May 4. In New Zealand it is commemorated on May 18  and it is also called Pink Shirt Day. In the UK Anti-Bullying Week is commemorated during the week of November 19-23. In Brazil there isn’t a specific date to commemorate a day against bullying but people are fighting to create one.

What is bullying?

Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.”

Activity 1: Carry out a a survey to find out the extent of bullying in your school.





Activity 2: Take a self-test to find out if you are doing anything that is considered to be bullying.
Activity 3: Watch Anti-bullying Pink Project 2012 and get inspired to make your own performance at your school to celebrate diversity and promote the development of positive social relationships.



Activity 4: Watch Don't Bully - Be a Friend"For Good" Video Contest2012 Anti-Bullying project William C. McGinnis SchoolAnti-Bullying Awareness, BullyingDon't be a bully, and CABEAR and the BULLIES: Anti-Bullying Video to get inspired to make your own anti-bullying video no longer than two minutes. Then, upload your video at YouTube.


Activity 5: Discuss with your classmates positive ways to deal with bullying and make posters to illustrate your ideas. To get inspired check out Take a Stand Together.




Activity 6: Design your own pink shirt to symbolize a stand against bullying and promote positive relationships.



 
Activity 7: Do a role play on anti-bullying. To get inspired check out Lesson: Anti-Bullying Role Plays.




Activity 8: Write anti bullying pledges.

Activity 9: Build an avatar to show how you can Take a Stand Together against bullying and violence. Then, share it with your friends and family.  Check out Take a Stand Together to create it.
