Valentine's Day Activities




















Activities created to the
course Web Tools for Educators



Activity 1: First of all, each class needs to create their own blog. To learn how to create a blog check out Blogger.
Activity 2: In groups of 8 students choose the 4 best websites to learn about Valentine's Day. Then, use Diigo to annotate and highlight important parts of the webpages chosen by you and share them with our group. 
Activity 3In groups of 8 students create a one-minute video trying to answer the question “What are your expressions of love?” Then, share it with us at Prezi or YouTube and also post it at your class blog. To make your video more attractive you can use One True Media
Activity 4: In groups of 8 students tell us what you have learned about Valentine’s Day around the world. Use Squidoo to write a single webpage, focused on the mentioned topic. Then, at our class blog, share the hyperlink with all of us, write a post about it and leave a comment at your classmates posts. 
Activity 5: Watch How to Make a Common Craft Style Video and All Common Crafts Video. Then, in group of 8 students create a similar video no longer than five minutes about the History of St. Valentine. After that, post it at You Tube and then at your blog.
Activity 6: In groups of 8 students create a campaign to Valentine’s Day to sell chocolate. You can create your own slogan or use the slogan created by João Dória. To get inspired, watch Dove Chocolate's Chinese Valentine's Day campaignThen, share your video with us at Prezi or at YouTube. Then, post it at your blog and leave a comment about your classmates videos. 
Activity 7: In groups of 8 students choose a few websites to learn about St. Anthony. Then, use Diigo and highlight important parts of the webpages chosen by you and share the link at your blog. 
Activity 8: In groups of 8 students, research if Valentine’s Day in Brazil is also a commercial holiday. Then, use Voicethread to make a presentation and sharing the information you find out. To learn how to use Voicethread, click here.
Activity 9: In groups of 8 students, do a research about Valentine’s Day by the numbers in Brazil and then use Pinterest to pin images to your pinboard related to your research. Then, write a reflection about it on your class blog.
Activity 10: Read the article On Valentine’s Day, do we still need Hallmark? Then, make a video trying to answer the question “How would you express your love for people without the industry of love?” After that, post it at YouTube and then at your blog. Then, make a reflection about it and make comments about your classmates reflections.
Activity 11: In groups of 8 students, choose love messages to be sent on Valentine's Day. Then, use Pinterest to pin these messages on your pinboard.
Activity 12: Take a look at Hallmark History & Timeline and learn more about the first industry of love.
Activity 13: In groups of 8 students, make Valentine’s Day cards. Get inspired by watching videos, such as How to make a pop-up heart cardMini handmade valentine's day card, among others. Take photos of your group making the cards and photos of your cards and then share them at Flickr. To make your photos funnier, use Bighugelabs.
Activity 14: In groups of 8 students, personalize a digital card to celebrate Valentine's Day and share the link at your class blog. To do this activity you can use either  Punchbowl or E-greetings.
Activity 15: In groups of 8 students, check out Starfall and write messages to include on your cards. Then, use Voicethread to make a presentation of the cards and the messages.
Activity 16: To get some tips on how to write love letters, watch Tips for writing love letters and How to Write a Love Letter. To get inspired check out a few Famous love letters and 1001 love letters. To understand the organizations of letters check out Letter Generator. After that, in groups of eight students, create a Wordle with words that appear more frequently in love letters and post it in your blog. Then, write a love letter for a special person. 
Activity 17: In groups of 8 students, come up with some creative ideas on how to celebrate Valentine's Day. Then, make a final production using any Web 2.0 tool available in the Internet. Then, post it at you blog. 

Activity 18: In groups of 8 students, make a final reflection about Valentine's Day. Mention which activities you enjoyed, which activities were challengeable, how you coped with your difficulties to do the activities, give some suggestions to improve the activities and other comments you want to share with us.
