Global Family Day

A day of peace and sharing can lead to greater understanding and cooperation among political parties, faith groups, and people of different races and economical classes.” John Conyers
Global Family Day, which takes place on January 1st, is an international day of peace and sharing for all faiths, cultures, races, nationalities and economic classes. It is a day when individuals and families are encouraged to share food, make personal pledges of nonviolence, and spread a message of peace and sharing by ringing a bell or beating a drum in hopes of making society and the world a safer place to live. The founder of the Global Family Day was Linda Grover (January 28th, 1934 – February 20th, 2010), an American peace activist who devoted many years to establishing January 1st as a worldwide day of peace. More information about Linda Grover is available at GlobalSolutions.org and Capitolwords.org.
Michael Zacka reminds us that “Global Family Day is a holiday dedicated to celebrating the reality that we're all one family and must strive together for a better world.”
