World Braile Day

World Braile Day, which takes place on January 4th, is a day when people celebrate the birthday of Louis Braile, the inventor of the Braile code. At the age of 3, Louis Braile, stabbed himself in his right eye when he was playing in his father's workshop and at the age of 5, became completely blind. At the age of 10, Braile was enrolled at the Institute for Blind Youth and between the ages of 13 and 16, worked on perfecting an embossed a dot system. At the age of 15, he felt he had an adequate code. More information about Louis Braile is available at brailebug.org, American Foundation for the Blind and calendarlabs.com.
